Teemu Pukki scored twice as his team Minnesota United tied the score with the San Jose Earthquakes in the US MLS league.
However, the match ended only 1–1, as one of Puki’s goals was disallowed.
The Finnish striker first gave Minnesota the lead in the 4th minute of the game and scored a 2-1 goal at the hour mark, but that hit was erased from the statistics.
Referee Alexis Da Silva considered that the ball had hit Minnesota before the goal situation Emanuel Reynoson on. Based on the decelerations, however, many were of the opinion that the impact point was closer to the shoulder than to the hand.
The rage of the fans was increased by the fact that the referee checked the situation on video before his decision.
– The MLS referees are on the move again, on the club’s X account (formerly Twitter) was commented.
– I don’t understand how they didn’t see that the ball hit the shoulder. Absolutely ridiculous, one fan protested.
– Matchmaking, one suspected.
Pukki has now scored in his two previous matches. Overall, however, the balance of this season is sad: only three goals in 12 games – including league and cup.
