The rebellion in the Mallorcan extreme right intensifies with death threats

The rebellion in Vox intensifies after the report of death threats received by one of the fifteen wayward councilors. The councilor registered a complaint with the Civil Guard after receiving a call from a man from a hidden number at 11:29 p.m. on Sunday night. In this sense, the man warned the councilor of the far-right formation “that if more news about internal Vox issues continued to come out, accidents would occur.” Likewise, they also asked him “how his daughter was doing, cutting off the call at the end of his threats.”

As this newspaper reported, fifteen Vox councilors in Majorca They have shown their discomfort with the current leadership and they have proposed rebelling against the party. The rise of the leader of the formation in Cort, Fulgencio Coll, as vice president of the party, has lit the fuse of an incipient internal rebellion in the foreign municipalities, among which there is general discontent with the Vox leadership. In fact, around fifteen councilors from different towns are considering leaving the party en bloc after Feijóo’s investiture debate, after a period of “ignorance” and “abandonment” by the leadership.

Given this situation, Vox has called a meeting of coordinators for today at seven in the afternoon that will bring together a large part of the 36 councilors that the party has in Mallorca (since many hold the position of mayor and coordinator simultaneously) in an attempt by the management to reduce tensions. Among those attending will be, predictably, the fifteen rebellious councilors who are threatening to leave the party due to their discontent with the leadership of the party. This is a meeting that should have been held months ago, after the May elections, but it has been delayed until now. Four months later, the person in charge of convening it was the regional deputy Sergio Rodríguez, as head of the coordinators. He highlighted the “importance” of “being able to talk about all the pending issues” and cited them on Tuesday at the training headquarters.

On behalf of the Vox spokesperson in Parliament, Idoia Ribas explained that she has no evidence of any rebellion within the party. “I was vice president of Vox in the Balearic Islands for six years, two months ago I decided to leave the vice presidency to dedicate myself exclusively to being a parliamentary spokesperson. I have no evidence of any type of rebellion,” Ribas determined.

Among all the noise, the absolute silence of the president of Vox stands out, Patricia de las Heras, who refused to make statements on the matter. For his part, the leader of the party in the Palma city council and now vice president of the party, Fulgencio Coll, minimized the crisis and described the voices that speak of a split and division within the party as “rumors.” Beyond that, in the same way as de las Heras, he refused to evaluate the matter.

Generalized discomfort

The unrest is widespread in a large part of the municipalities of Mallorca, and they have made this known to the national leadership, who did not respond. After the regional elections, they reported feeling like “scapegoats rather than scapegoats” when they saw the “abandonment” and “ignorance” of the party leadership in the Balearic Islands. In a letter sent to Madrid they revealed some of their problems: poor internal organization and lack of support before and after the electoral campaign, among other issues.
