Thomas Gottschalk’s last episode of “Wetten, dass ..?” will be broadcast on November 25th. But instead of being accompanied by his long-time co-host Michelle Hunziker, the entertainer will lead the evening alone. The reason for her absence was not yet known. Gottschalk has now commented publicly on this.
“Michelle “For me, I used to be a pleasantly spontaneous colleague, a character that I could play at any time, and then the balls would come flying back,” said the 73-year-old in an interview with “Zeit”. The moderator valued this togetherness for many years until the way in which colleagues had to moderate was more strictly controlled. “IAt some point management came into play, fixed texts on index cards were requested, nothing spontaneous anymore, more like parallel moderation. “That’s something I neither wanted nor needed,” said the entertainer about the show change.
A few weeks ago, the presenter also announced the reason for his own departure from the Saturday evening show. In his opinion, he is simply no longer up to date and his “generation has run its course,” said Gottschalk. In an interview with “Bild” he explains: “I may not necessarily have the right mental attitudes from my past that I need to function today.” Nevertheless, he is the entertainer who has been on the show for almost 25 years – with interruptions moderated by Wolfgang Lippert and Markus Lanz – not at all wistful about his “Wetten, dass ..?” exit.
Even if it says “Top, the bet is valid!” one last time, Gottschalk will have national and international stars sitting on his couch. In addition to a joint appearance by Shirin David and Helene Fischer, Cher is also expected to perform a show. Who else will be on the guest list is currently unknown.
