The real damage of a divorce is not the hurt ego, it’s the children | Family

Every day in the Netherlands, two hundred children are told that their parents are getting a divorce. That is a full primary school every day. The greatest damage to these children is caused by a phenomenon that we also call ‘destructive law’. Parents give themselves permission to behave destructively towards their ex-partner during and after the divorce. For example, they keep the children away from each other or do not pay alimony. But also small stitches, such as no longer saying ‘Just ask daddy’, but ‘Ask your father’.
