The province has not made any agreements with TVM to stay in Hoogeveen

The province did not make any agreements with TVM in 2019 that the head office would remain in Hoogeveen for a longer period of time. However, the unrest at the time was the ‘impetus’ to build the IT Hub.

Insurer TVM is looking for a new home for its head office, because the current building no longer meets current requirements. TVM wants an energy-neutral building. The building can no longer be converted for this purpose. The company is currently investigating a new location.

In 2019, TVM threatened to leave Hoogeveen. Partly due to a strong lobby from the province and the municipality of Hoogeveen, the company remained in Drenthe. The province answers questions from the PvdA that no agreements were made with TVM at the time and that the possible departure was the impetus for the IT Hub. But: “The IT Hub is not exclusively intended for TVM.” The province paid more than two million euros to make this IT Hub possible.

Four years ago, the insurer expressed its preference to build a new office at Hoogeveen station. But due to corona, the decision on housing has been postponed, because more people are working from home due to corona.

The province does not intend to appease TVM ‘in advance’ with its own money. She does want to see whether she can help the insurer to make use of national or European subsidies.
