The prospect of colder weather in Europe is driving up gas prices considerably

The European gas price continued to rise on Thursday morning as colder weather is approaching in Europe.

On the leading Amsterdam gas exchange, the price rose by almost 9 percent to 159 euros per megawatt hour of gas. That is the highest level in more than a month and a half.

Prediction

Recently, the price of gas has already started to rise due to forecasts for colder weather conditions. Previously, the price fell thanks to the mild weather. But according to the American company Maxar Technologies, which performs satellite measurements, among other things, temperatures in large parts of Europe will fall sharply this month and will be lower than averages. As a result, the heating will be turned up again.

The European gas storages are well filled due to the mild weather of recent times. Much more liquefied natural gas (LNG) is also being imported into Europe to compensate for the lack of supplies from Russia.
