The production of ‘eco’ cars grows in Spain

In November increased vehicle production in Spain. More specifically, they were manufactured 262,074 unitswhich represents a 9.6% increase Respect to the same month of previously year. According to data provided by ANFACand analyzing them by type of vehicle, The manufacture of passenger cars was 201,608 units in November, 6.7% more than in the same month of 2022. The commercial and industrial vehicleshad a much more notable improvement 20.6% compared to the same month last year, with 60,466 units.

The production of zero and low emission vehicles (electric, plug-in hybrids, conventional hybrids, natural gas and LPG) are increased 30.6% in November compared to the same period in 2022, with 54,791 units, which represents 20.9% of the total share.

A fact that contrasts with the manufacturing quota of electrified vehicleswhich in November reached 11.8% of total production, which represents 2 percentage points less compared to the penultimate month of last year. In November, 30,883 electrified vehicles were manufactured, which represents a slight decrease of 6.6% compared to the same month of the previous year. Of these, 26,074 units correspond to passenger cars (BEV pure electric and PHEV plug-in hybrids), which decrease by 1.1% compared to November 2022.

Of course, if we look at the cumulative total of the year, Electrified vehicles represent 13.4% of total productionwith 308,853 units, an increase of 27.1% compared to the same period of the previous year.

In the month of November, exports of vehicles manufactured in Spain increased, leaving a total of 231,075 units outside our borders, 9.5% more than in the same period of 2022, representing 88.2% of monthly production. Regarding the accumulated annual figure, exports increased by 16.5%, with 2,072,230 units exported.

Of all these cars manufactured in November, 90.8% went to Europe, which represents a slight decrease of 0.2% compared to the same month of the previous year. But the volume of units delivered to European destinations increased by 9.3% compared to the same month of the previous year. By countries, Germany took first place from France in importing Spanish vehicles in November. The United Kingdom ranked third, followed by Italy and Türkiye. It is worth highlighting the notable increases experienced by the United Kingdom (+53.1%) and Turkey (+51.8%).
