The “security summit” in the Red City Hall delivered initial results. But are they enough? A comment from BZ editor Stefan Peter.
Problem identified, but far from solved. The conditions in Görlitzer Park and Leopoldplatz have long been a thorn in the side of the government. That’s why Kai Wegner invited people to the “Security Summit” in the Red Town Hall.
He praised the responsible district mayors, but they don’t really want to go along with it. But some Senate administrations should have prepared better.
Although the date for the summit had been set for a long time, there was no statement about the costs of the fence around the Görli; a concept for dealing with dangerous mentally ill people still has to be developed.
Also notable was Interior Senator Iris Spranger, who spoke at the press conference for 20 minutes at a time without saying much (concrete).
After four and a half minutes she said in all seriousness “Before I start the content,” only to digress again and praise herself. She didn’t know the answer to what time the Görli would be locked.
The presentation of the measures was not really convincing.
