But Krumbiegel does not want to cancel his reading despite the announced demonstration by right-wing extremists.
A reading by Die Prinzen singer Sebastian Krumbiegel in Greifswald was in jeopardy after he was confronted with negative, threatening comments on social media and a possible right-wing demonstration in front of the venue. The reason for this seemed to be Krumbiegel’s commitment to combating right-wing extremism. Ultimately, he defied the threats and did not cancel the event on November 17th.
Resistance to rejection
The organizer of the location, Susanne Putzar-Vandamme, reported to the “dpa” about the hostility: “We received nasty comments on social media that were directed against Sebastian. There should probably also be a demonstration in front of our house.” Although the management wanted to cancel the event due to the threats, Krumbiegel resisted. The musician explained that he did not want to let a “mob” dictate when and where he performed and emphasized the importance of not allowing himself to be driven away. This type of threat to the event was nevertheless a new dimension of headwind against him.
Even though some visitors are said to have returned their tickets due to the threats, as “Deutschlandfunk Kultur” reports, new tickets are said to have been sold again. The situation appears to be calming down. One day after the reading in Greifswald, on November 18th, a concert is planned in Schleusigen in Thuringia to take a stand against the right. Under the motto “Music instead of agitation” Krumbiegel will play a solo gig to promote more public courage. This should be followed by a prayer for peace. This comes in the context of an upcoming right-wing extremist event in the region.
Use against the right
In addition to his concerts and readings, the Prinzen singer also performs Instagram repeatedly making statements against the right-wing scene. He recently announced there that he and other artists had set up the “Calendar Against the Right”. In another post with a significant “FCK NZS” image, he shared an informative documentary on the topic with his fans.
