The Pride! approaches the whole of the citizenry with the ‘Village’ in the center of Barcelona

He Pride! Barcelonathe city’s pride festival, celebrates its central events this weekend, including the demonstration on Saturday, as well as hosting the meeting point for LGTBI entities, known as “Village”, which for the first time it will be in the center of the city, in Plaza Universitat.

The visible faces of the Pride! organization, Ferran Poca and Marta Giralt, have highlighted the poster of this edition, dedicated to LGTBI older people, and which includes performances by the Mexican Paulina Rubio at an inaugural event in the La Paloma room. and the last Eurovision winner, Loreen.

With the motto “The pride of our lives”, the protest festivity wants to make visible the situation of loneliness and “return to the closet” suffered by some of the most veteran people of the group.

Giralt also highlighted to Efe that this year they also want to make an impact on the “intergenerational dialogue” between LGTBI veterans “who fought so hard to win rights” and the youngest.

In addition, he recalled that pride not only claims rights for the collective, but that it is “a party for everyone where everyone is welcome”.

In this sense, he has pointed out the opportunity it represents to get in touch with the citizens of Barcelona that in addition to the great stage of Avenida María Cristina, Plaza Universitat also hosts part of the activities.

In the opening act of Pride!, and before the performances of the performer Marina, Maruja Limón and Cheap Sonhas intervened the mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, who has said that the city will be “at the forefront of the resistance” against those who want to regress in rights.

Collboni has called for the collective to mobilize, urging them to vote “more than ever” so as “not to lose rights they have won.”
