The Chairman of the Board of Andalusia, Juanma Morenohas demanded this Saturday that TV3 apologize for the broadcast of a parody on Virgin of Rocio. The gag was broadcast live on Thursday on the program ‘It’s passing’presented by Toni Soler, in which an actress characterized as the Virgen del Rocío, venerated in the Huelva town of Almonte, was interviewed. In turn, the Federation of Andalusian Cultural Entities in Catalonia (FECAC) has joined the same request and has urged the Catalan public television to apologize.
During the comic number, the actress complained with marked Andalusian accent of the showiness of the suit: “It’s been 200 years since I’ve been able to get laid like God command!”, he said. In the same performance, he tried to flirt with one of the presenters of the program, Jair Domínguez, while Soler acknowledged that he did not know “what to say so as not to screw it up” with that topic: “We are in a minefield”.

“He humor is one of the hallmarks of our land, but to be funny it is done with respect and affection”, Moreno wrote in Twitter. “It is a lack of respect for Andalusia, for thousands of Andalusians and their traditions. Moreno is not the only political leader who has criticized TV3. The leftist leader of Adelante Andalucía, Teresa Rodriguez, has also criticized the gag. “You can make humor out of everything. Also from Holy Week. But not with so much malaje, ignorance and Andalusian phobia,” Rodríguez wrote, to finish off: “Imitate the accent of your bloody ‘stop’, for being soft.”

For his part, the president of the FECAC, Daniel Salinerohas addressed the president of the Catalan Audiovisual Council (CAC), Xevi Xirgo, to demand from TV3 the “restitution of the honor of the Virgen del Rocío” and some “public apologies” in the program, reports Efe. The FECAC, organizer of the pilgrimage del Rocío in Catalonia, considers that the “mocking” of the Virgen del Rocío in ‘Està passant’ was in “very bad taste” and “deserves the strongest rejection”.
