The host duo of Gogi Mavromichalis and Emma Karasjoki the outfits caused concern among viewers of Yle’s New Year’s broadcast.
Yle’s Facebook account complained about the fact that the presenters had to paint in the freezing cold in too little clothing. At the time of the concert in Helsinki’s Kansalaistor, it was almost twenty degrees below zero. Karasjoki hosted the concert in an evening dress and Mavromichalis in a little jacket.
Producer Antti Ennekari Yelta commented on the matter to Iltalehte on Tuesday. According to Ennekar, the outfits were decided between the presenters and the dressers, and there were no disagreements regarding the outfits. After the weather conditions were confirmed, we briefly thought about changing the outfits to warmer ones. However, all parties ended up sticking to the original plan.
– I understand that it can seem strange when it’s so cold outside. However, they were only on stage for a few minutes at a time and then got to warm up backstage and put on thicker clothes.
– The only moment when they were on stage longer was during the deputy mayor’s speech. That broadcast shows how we asked them to leave the stage in the middle of the speech, because they had to be there a little longer, Ennekari said on the phone to Iltalehdi.
However, Ennekar thinks it is good that the viewers are interested in the well-being of the employees.

Ennekari says that Yle received some feedback about the outfits, which was small compared to the program’s viewership. The issue was mainly discussed on social media.
