With a transfer fee of 30 million euros, Sacha Boey is the most expensive right-back in Bundesliga history. The 23-year-old, who was born on September 13, 2000 in the Paris suburb of Montreuil, joined the Stade Rennes youth team in 2014 after starting out at FC Romainville and Red Star Paris.
Boey made his debut in the French Ligue 1 with the Bretons in May 2019. In the following season he gained his first international experience with two appearances in the Europa League.
After a loan to league rivals FCO Dijon, the former France U17, U18 and U20 international joined Galatasaray in the summer of 2021. In Turkey he became a regular player from the 2022/23 season and made a decisive contribution to winning the Turkish championship in 31 games.
Boey got to know his new employer up close in the first half of the current season. In Champions League Group A, Galatasaray met FC Bayern twice (1:3, 1:2). Boey was on the pitch for over 90 minutes in both games against Munich and didn’t miss a minute in the preliminary round, which ended with “Gala” in third place behind Bayern and FC Copenhagen.
