Over the years the closing of the market has been accompanied by pleasant and unpleasant surprises
The case of Julián Araujo and Barça or that of Ziyech and PSG in this winter market have not been isolated episodes
The stress, the fax, the different communications, the incomplete documentation… There are many excuses that several clubs have had to use to explain the failure in any of the incomplete operations at the close of the transfer market. It has always happened and it is not from now, but the cases of Julián Álvarez with Barça or that of Ziyech with PSG are reminiscent of other very famous ones such as De Gea and Real Madrid.
In many cases, the vast majority, the reason that the arrival of one or the other footballer did not happen is that one of the two parties has backed down. The most recent, without going any further, is the episode lived with Isco Alarcón, who even traveled to Germany to join Unión Berlin and who had to return to Spain because the Germans did not accept the last minute demands of the Andalusian. Also Del Piero, in 1992, had changed his intention to go to Milan from Padova to join Juventus.
However, it is more difficult to explain how Julián Araujo, footballer for the LA Galaxy of the MLS, has not ended up signing for Barça. From the Blaugrana club they explain that the documentation did not arrive on time, although there are other versions that point to a possible retreat from the culé entity itself or, even, that there have been unexpected movements by LaLiga to prevent its incorporation. In the blaugrana entity they insist that the signing will end up taking place.
Barça was about to experience a similar episode with Aubameyang a year ago. The then Arsenal forward spent hours of great stress with his agents and the Barça sports management, who worked quickly to make his registration a reality, as it did. Of course, it arrived after the deadline, although in a totally normative way.
In this transfer window that ended yesterday Tuesday, PSG was left, at the limit of time, without the incorporation of Ziyech. The reason is that, according to the Parisians, Chelsea sent the necessary documentation to seal the operation up to three times wrong, something that felt very bad in France. So much so that, in fact, they are seriously considering the possibility of denouncing the English for malpractice.
One of the most remembered cases is, of course, that of David De Gea. It was the year 2015 and Real Madrid and Manchester United had agreed to an exchange of goalkeepers, so the Spaniard would play at the Bernabéu and Keylor Navas would play at Old Trafford. But the fax with the necessary documentation from England arrived after the registration deadline, so the operation fell through.
