The Port of Barcelona raises the bar for its Christmas fair in the run-up to the Copa América

He ‘Nadal to Port‘has raised the curtain this Tuesday night with a lively lights-on party and the debut of the show which will be repeated daily in the Tower of Jaume I as a great novelty of this fifth edition. The coastline thus adds to the Christmas festivities that the Catalan capital has been experiencing for a few days. But also, the Port of Barcelona has raised the bar for this Christmas event at the doors of a 2024 that will put the global focus on Sailing America Cup which will have one of its epicenters in Port Vell.

A large group of children of the Port of Barcelona workers, chosen by lottery, were the protagonists of the lighting, which brought together hundreds of Barcelona residents. First they were able to entertain themselves with the musical performance by SX3, the Super3, from the 3Cat platform. With the atmosphere already heated, the very red lighting that covers the fair has been activated, after a choral countdown. The focus then moved to light and music show at the Torre de Jaume I (the Moll cable car tower in Barcelona, next to the Word Trade Center), which will be taken advantage of this year.

To the sound of ‘Mediterranean’, ‘Amics per semper’ and various Christmas hits, the tower dances with light, dyed in color and crowned by a star of Bethlehem. It will be one of the distinctive elements of this edition, every day at 7:00 p.m., to contemplate from the Moll de la Fusta (near the sea) or at the foot of the tower. Audiences of all ages have gathered to see the successful ‘show’, while the fair was already bustling with activity, having just opened to the public.

Until January 7 will be a reference for the city’s Christmas route, during 12:00 to 23:00, while the lighting will follow the schedule of the rest of the city. The composition of the assembly, with activities all day and the involvement of entities and entertainment groups, has meant that in just four years it has consolidated itself as a must-visit point for those who want to breathe the Christmas atmosphere and merriment, among play areas children, attractions and food points. Hundreds of people have already taken to the terraces in the cool for a quick dinner or hot chocolate. The prices are contained.

The thousands of visitors who have come in previous years will discover that the Nadal al Port gains ground this 2023 By maintaining its hyperactivity in the Moll de la Fusta but growing towards Barceloneta, it extended its mantle of lights and animation to the Moll de Barcelona, Dipòsit, Barceloneta and the Plaza de Pau Vila. In this way, it begins to occupy 27,000 square meters and grow throughout until reaching a kilometer and a half. Add prominence to a coastline that will be in the spotlight next fall with the America Cup.

The assembly maintains two of its great claims, the 400 square meter ice rink and ferris wheel, which are also paid activities, along with attractions. The sparkling and enormous Ferris wheel once again dominates the landscape and in record time has achieved the status of local Christmas icon.

Virtual group experience

The same happens with the first virtual reality experience created by the children’s channel SX3. This, baptized, ‘Illusions‘ It will be free and aimed at all audiences, to be experienced in a group. The Port represents its first staging but will later be itinerant.

The initiative orchestrated by the Port, with an investment of one million euros For its part, it allocates 200,000 to lighting and the rest to cleaning, security and regular maintenance, beyond the budget of the operators themselves.
