Fortunately, no one was injured in the situation.
Porsche driver Will Martin literally crashed off the track at the weekend’s Porsche Carrera Cup race at Brands Hatch.
Martin lost control of his car in the first corner of the track after a small trick offered by another car. The car slid across the grassy area at speed, hitting the tire embankment rear-first.
From there, the Porsche took off, rolling partly over the embankment and partly ending up in a tree. The situation was very dangerous, because there were five railway officials on the other side of the railway embankment. They practically didn’t have time to react before the Porsche slammed into the wall in front of them.
A large pile of tires detached from the collision of the car bounced dangerously next to the track officials, luckily, however, without hitting anyone.
Both Martin and the track officials survived the situation with a mere startle. Stopping Porsche’s journey in a tree was ultimately a stroke of luck. If it hadn’t stopped the car’s aerial flight, the track officials would have been caught under it.
One track official got out from under the Porsche that had stopped above him several seconds after the accident had already ended.
