A margarita is a drink that can be topped with both strawberries and basil in the summer.

Long-time trainer and bartender Jyri Pylkkänen tells you how to make the perfect margarita.
Margarita is a convenient summer drink because it is easy to modify versions according to your own taste.
– Traditionally, a Margarita is made with two parts tequila, one part Cointreau and half lime. Nowadays, you need a bit of sweetness to drink, so it’s worth adding a dash of agave-based syrup, which you can find in supermarkets.
Dash is a unit of measure in bar terminology, which means a splash, i.e. a small amount.
Pylkkänen suggests topping the Margarita with, for example, fresh herbs or seasonal berries, such as raspberries or strawberries.
– My favorite herb is definitely basil, which works really well in a margarita.
Fresh berries should be crushed a little first, after which they should be added to the shaker.
– Especially at home, you should pay attention to the amount of ice and reserve enough of it. When shaking, you should use a lot of ice so that the drink cools down quickly.
Margarita
3 cl of tequila
2 cl citrus liqueur (e.g. Cointreau or Triple Sec)
2 cl lime juice
a splash of agave syrup
freeze
salt
1. Make a salt rim on the glass by brushing lime juice on the edge of the glass and then rolling it in salt.
2. Add tequila, citrus liqueur and lime juice to a shaker and fill it with ice.
2. Shake vigorously.
3. Pour into a glass and garnish with a lime slice.
In margaritas and other summer drinks, including non-alcoholic ones, you should use fruits and vegetables that have already seen their best days.
6 tips for waste-reducing summer drinks
1. Use overripe fruits and vegetables to make smoothies or juices. For example, you can make a fresh smoothie from leftover bananas, strawberries and spinach.
2. Use citrus peels to add flavor to drinks. For example, you can add lemon or orange peels to a pitcher of water or iced tea to give it a fresh taste.
3. Use fresh herbs such as mint, basil or lemon balm to flavor drinks. For example, you can make mint iced tea or add herbs to soft drinks.
4. Make use of leftovers from juices or berries by making ice cubes from them. For example, you can make ice cubes by squeezing juices from citrus fruits or adding berries to water before freezing. Leftover coffee can be used to make ice cubes, which can later be used in iced coffee.
5. You can make use of tea bags or leftover tea by making cold tea. Put tea bags or cooled tea in the fridge and serve them with ice cubes and lemon or mint.
6. If your sweet tooth craves soft drinks, you can easily make them yourself. For example, try mixing soda water with juice or berry juice for a refreshing drink.
