Vocalist Emma Salokoski, 47, fell victim to an online scammer. The matter is clear from the judgment given by the district court of Pirkanmaa last week.
The fraud took place on August 21, 2022. According to the indictment, Salokoski had bought a dress worth 62.60 euros from an Akalian woman on an online sales site. However, the fraudster did not deliver the dress. Salokoski did not get his money back.
Salokoski was just one of the many victims of the Akaan online scammer. The woman accused of more than twenty frauds confessed to all the crimes, so the matter was resolved in a written procedure. He had no previous criminal record.
The method of fraud was similar. The actions took place in 2022 between January and September. The district court considered that the similar method of committing fraud and repeated repetition showed planning and a determined will to commit crimes and benefit from them.
Most of the fraud victims had lost less than a hundred euros as a result of the scam. A single victim was defrauded of 590 euros in handbag stores. As regards the individual acts, the criminal benefit was small, but the court considered that the acts cannot be considered small when considered as a whole.
The woman, born in 1995, was sentenced to 3 months’ probation in the district court of Pirkanmaa for 22 counts of fraud. He was ordered to reimburse his victims for the money he fraudulently obtained from them.
In addition, the convicted person was ordered to pay a crime victim fee of 80 euros.
