The Poll: my donation to charity ends up well

When recruiting new members for a good cause, large sums remain at the disposal of commercial agencies, reports One today† The commercial offices organize donor recruitment in shopping streets and door-to-door recruitment.

If you become a donor of a charity for ten euros a month, you only pay the recruitment agency that created your donor for the first year. Your monthly donation will only actually reach the charity after a year.

Bonuses

Students who knock on your door or approach you at the supermarket do not do so on a voluntary basis; they get a bonus for every donor they bring in. Mathys van Abbe van Kinder, a start-up that wants to change the ‘charity world’, thinks it is time to overhaul the system: “We are very careful that directors and managers do not earn exorbitant salaries. are spent on office costs. All of this is kept up to date. But there are no rules whatsoever for engaging external companies. That is a bow that is barely exposed.”

Millions

The body that checks charities is the Central Bureau for Fundraising. They monitor, among other things, whether a director of a charity does not earn more than 153,000 euros per year. But they cannot monitor the incomes of employees of commercial agencies. Pepperminds, Trust Marketing and XS Direct, for example, have millions on their balance sheets, but this too falls outside the supervision of the Central Bureau for Fundraising.
