The Poll: I no longer travel via Schiphol

It has been chaos at Schiphol for weeks. Travelers queue for hours and complaints are pouring in on social media. As a result, the demand for travel from regional airports and airports in our neighboring countries is growing. Schiphol CEO Dick Benschop has to come to the House of Representatives today to give a text and explanation about the crowds and unrest at the airport.

Every day it hits Schiphol again, travelers stand in line for hours and even miss their flight because of this. Due to staff shortages in various departments, including security, it can take hours before you go through the security check. As a result, travelers arrive several hours in advance to catch their flight, so that waiting people even have to queue many hundreds of meters outside.

Travelers are furious and are complaining about the conditions on social media. The airport is already popularly referred to as ‘farce harbour’. Travel organizations are also noticing that more and more customers are trying to avoid the chaos at Schiphol and that the demand for travel from other airports is growing.

Busy not over yet

Schiphol CEO Benschop is coming to the House of Representatives today to talk about the enormous crowds and chaos at the airport. Benschop is also personally under fire because he went on holiday in May, when the problems were greatest at the airport.

According to Schiphol, the crowds will certainly continue until the summer holidays. Last week, the company came up with an action plan to combat the long queues, but whether that will work remains to be seen.

Do you ‘just’ depart from Schiphol, even if the crowds continue this summer, or do you opt for an alternative airport?
