The person accused of the manslaughter of Tyler Skaggs received a harsh sentence

A baseball player who died three years ago by Tyler Skaggs the mystery is finally getting resolved. The team’s communications manager, suspected of the star’s death, was sentenced to 22 years in prison.

Skaggs, who was a pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels, was found unconscious in his hotel room during an away game trip in July 2019.

The 27-year-old athlete had choked on his own vomit. The autopsy revealed that he had been under the influence of strong painkillers and alcohol when he died.

As the investigation progresses, Angels communications manager Eric Kay was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter. Authorities accused Kay of passing pills laced with fentanyl to Skaggs.

Authorities had obtained text messages from the night before Skaggs’ death. In the messages, Kay and Skaggs discussed the painkillers that eventually became the MLB player’s fate.

Kay was already charged in 2020 with possession and distribution of fentanyl and manslaughter. Now Kay’s punishment has been announced after more than two years of legal process. The man has been behind bars for 22 years. At worst, the crimes could have resulted in life imprisonment.
