Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is not inevitable, there is still the possibility of de-escalating the situation through diplomacy. About it declared US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin at a briefing.
“Conflict is not inevitable. There is still time and space for diplomacy,” he stressed, adding that the United States, together with its allies, offered Russia a path from crisis to greater security.
At the same time, Austin noted that any aggression by Russia against Ukraine would not only provoke a conflict, but also violate the basic principles of national sovereignty, territorial integrity and self-determination.
He stressed that the United States will stand “shoulder to shoulder” with its NATO allies.
