The Peekaboos celebrate 45th birthday in De Haan

This summer there is an exhibition in De Haan and a discovery route that runs from 1 July to 28 August in the Wielingencentrum. There is also a village festival in the Kiekeboesstraat in Wenduine.

In the exhibition ‘Long will they live – 45 years of De Kiekeboes’ the many characters of the well-known comic are reviewed. You discover their house, read the latest news from the Toproddel editorial board, clean inspector Sapperdeboere’s office, walk in Uncle Vital’s garden or share a beach cabin with Fanny.

The location for the exhibition was not chosen by chance. Comic artist Merho found his ideal writing spot in Wenduine fifteen years ago: “I can tinker with my stories here in peace with a view of the sea. And in the winter, the deserted beach is my relaxation spot. The ideas run through my head there.”

In addition, the discovery route ‘On the trail of the Kiekeboes’ has been developed. Along the way you will relive the exciting fragments from the 132nd comic book by the Kiekeboes ‘Alle Eendjes’, which is set in De Haan.

“During the walk, the voices of none other than the cartoonist Merho himself, but also weather forecaster David Dehenauw, singer Koen Crucke and singer Ingeborg accompany you with fun facts and anecdotes about our municipality,” says Alderman for Tourism, Marleen De Soete.
