Rising living costs, inflation, energy crisis – police officers also want or have to earn money with part-time jobs. Above all, civil servants in the middle service improve their salaries. They drive taxis, are extras or help in offices.
2,661 police officers registered at least one part-time job with their authority last year. That is seven percent more than in the pandemic year 2020. A year later the number was already 2569 officials.
The police union (GdP) finds that to be an “impressive number”. State chief Stephan Weh on the BZ: “If the inflation rate is constantly higher than the salary increases and Berlin is always in the lower third of the salary range, it can come as no surprise that even police officers sit at the petrol station or at the cash register at Rewe at night.”
Most (271) police officers have registered as self-employed, followed by honorary posts (185), teachers (139), trainers (150) and extras/extras (117). 76 civil servants earn extra money as salespeople, 62 as office helpers and 47 work part-time as taxi or truck drivers.
“The time required for sideline activities should not generally exceed a fifth of the weekly working time,” said police spokeswoman Beate Ostertag. At 40 hours a week, that’s eight hours.
Above all, civil servants in salary group A 10 (from 2900 euros) work twice as hard: 527 of them have something running on the side. The fewest secondary jobs were applied for in salary group A 16 (from 6100 euros): only six civil servants earn money in this rank.
According to the police, there is only one registration in the computer system of the personnel administration for the “social media” area. “To what extent this statement is valid cannot be assessed, since the details of the registered activity are stored in free text,” said police spokeswoman Ostertag.
According to BZ information, at least two policewomen have a “onlyfans‘ account where they offer pictures and chats to make money. “There are no occasion-independent checks on platforms,” the police spokeswoman continued.
