Paramount+ available in France at the end of 2022

This is a new offensive by ViacomCBS Networks International in France. After the launch a year ago of Pluto TV in France, the media has just announced the arrival of its subscription video-on-demand platform, Paramount+. Raffaele Annecchino, CEO of ViacomCBS Networks International, clarifies that “we have a distribution agreement with Canal+ but we want to integrate all French distributors to have the widest possible distribution”. The service is already available in the United States, Canada, Latin America and a few countries in Europe.

Paramount+ will therefore be offered alongside the Canal channels, (Canal+ Cinéma, Ciné+, but also Disney+ and Netflix). The agreement provides that “the French group is the only market player in France to be able to integrate Paramount+ into its commercial offers”. For Maxime Saada, chairman of the executive board of the Canal+ group, “Paramount is Hollywood’s most iconic studio and Paramount+ is one of the essential platforms on the market. We want to partner with those who will win the battle because not everyone will win. And they want to partner with us”.

Canal+ offers the most complete offer on the French market

Obviously, it will not be compulsory to go through Canal+ to access Paramount+. The platform will also be available with a classic subscription plan, the amount of which has not yet been communicated by the Hollywood studio. The streaming service has a few arguments to convince French viewers. On Paramount+, the future series adapted from the video game Halo will be released, a series centered on the character of Knuckles well known to Sonic fans or even The Offer, derived from the trilogy The Godfather.

For the moment, Paramount+ is still very far behind the trio of world leaders made up of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+. In accordance with the new media chronology, Canal+ will benefit from Paramount films six months after their theatrical release. This will notably be the case for Mission Impossible 7 and 8, Sonic 2. With this new partnership, Canal+ is hitting hard and now offers the most complete offer on the French market. Indeed, subscribers to Canal+ Ciné Séries will eventually benefit from access to Netflix, Disney+, StarzPlay and OCS and Paramount+.
