TO at a certain point the doubt arises that Selvaggia doubled up and even wrote the part of Lorenzo. Because you read the pages in italics, those of the male, by Biagiarelli, and you seem to recognize Lucarelli’s style. But no: it’s really him.

Now they are such a perfect couple, so in symbiosis, that the reader struggles to distinguish one from the other. And like all successful couples, they argue constantly. That’s why it’s fun to read The others fight out of jealousy. Us for cats, flowers, photos and restaurantsthe four-handed book just published by Cairo.

They are in conflict of interest, but not for the publisher; for the author. I confess that I have a professional passion for Selvaggia Lucarelli. She’s in all the places a modern journalist should be. In newspapers, on the Net, on TV, in bookstores. And he knows how to use all means very well.

She’s a sharp polemicist, but she doesn’t pontificate from talk shows like many othersshe picks up and goes to report, even in places where she is not welcome, such as no-vaxes and the taxi drivers’ strike. I don’t know Biagiarelli, but he too isn’t doing badly as a multitasker: blogger, chef, RaiUno collaborator, dancer, cat lover.

The book is very enjoyable, from the initial anecdote – the vain search for a restaurant in Bangkok chosen by Lorenzo on the basis of an old enthusiastic review written on TripAdvisor by a Honduran widow – up to the final one: the dramatic search for a suitable foundation in view of a guest by Mara Venier (he chooses it too dark. Her reaction: “What the c. did you buy??? Do you think you are Naomi Campbell’s boyfriend??? Now I’m going to Mara Venier and what can I tell her, that I go to the same solarium as Di Maio? They’ll accuse me of blackface, it’s over!”). She was from the times of Ten little villains that we didn’t laugh so much. But that was written by Selvaggia herself.
