Truls Gisselman experienced an unprecedented misfortune.
The race organizers lost a Swedish skier by Truls Gisselman skis at the Tour de Ski, say Sweden’s Viaplay and Expressen.
The unfortunate moment happened on Thursday before the Davos 20 km pursuit race. Before the start, Gisselman took two pairs of skis to a fluoride test, as stipulated in the FIS rules of the International Ski Federation.
The skis must be tested no later than 30 minutes before the start.
– I had decided on which skis I would ski. When I came back, the ski I had chosen was not there. It was incredibly annoying. The race was ruined because of that, the skier tells Expressen.
Gisselman was supposed to ski the entire race with equal push. The plan was changed a moment before the start, because the organizers lost skis suitable for the purpose.
The Swede was forced to put on the only shoes that were tested and stored.
– It was definitely a misunderstanding. I don’t think it will happen again.
It is not clear from the stories whether Gisselman got his lost skis back.
