Within two weeks there will be a temporary solution for the only ATM in Andijk. Geldmaat tells WEEFF/NH. Due to a defect, residents of the village have not been able to withdraw cash for several weeks. “We find it very annoying, and it is a priority. However, the delivery of some parts takes a very long time,” a spokesperson explains.
Due to a defective part at the Geldmaat on the Middenweg in Andijk, residents of the village sometimes have to drive five kilometers to a machine that works. This is often difficult, especially for the elderly and people who have difficulty walking. Residents also appeal to the Village Council of Andijk. “We hear a lot of complaints. People come to me on the street to ask when there is a solution,” says Gerrit van Keulen, chairman of the Village Council.
The Village Council contacted Geldmaat a few weeks ago, who said that an interim solution was being worked on. “It was necessary to investigate where the error was and which supplier it came from,” he says.
Part is taken from other device
Something that Margo van Wijgerden also confirms. The spokesperson for Geldmaat says that this is a difficult situation, because due to safety and availability it is not possible to temporarily place a device in a different location in the village.
Yesterday, Geldmaat was able to confirm that the current vending machine on Middenweg should be working within two weeks. “We remove the broken part from another machine, which means it is temporarily out of action,” Van Wijgerden explains. “This is the interim solution, but there must be a permanent solution, namely a new ATM.”
Location guide to see which machines are working
Van Wijgerden speaks of an unpleasant situation. Especially because it will take some time before the machine on the Middenweg works. “We depend on delivery times. In the meantime, we advise people to pay as much as possible with their debit card,” she says. “In stores, entrepreneurs can often help with payments with a card. It is a big step for some, but it is the first alternative to the purchases you want to do yourself.”
If you want to withdraw cash in the next two weeks, the spokesperson advises you to go to an ATM in the area, or ask family or a good acquaintance to take it with you. “That is very annoying, but we cannot offer anything else at the moment. In the meantime, this could be a solution.”
Van Wijgerden also suggests taking a look at the Geldmaat website. This is possible the location guide check which ATMs are in the area and whether they are working. “This way you don’t go to another machine in vain, which happens to be out of order or doesn’t have enough money at that moment.”
