Olympic medalist Ysaora Thibus was caught doping in January, when banned substances were found in her doping sample.
Thibus, 32, plans to testify that he did not knowingly use the banned anabolic substance ostarine. He hired a lawyer by Maître Joëlle Monlouisaccording to which the substance ended up in the fencer’s body through sex.
– The substance came through her husband Race Imboden. Imboden used a product that contained this substance and it entered Ysaora’s body through body fluids, the lawyer said to the French L’Equipe.
Thibus would like to go to the Olympics, and his group is trying to overturn the athlete’s doping band before the Paris Olympics.
Ouest-France magazine discussed Thibus’s explanation the sports doctor Jean-Pierre de Mondernard with. According to him, the substance can indeed enter the body through sex. Mondernad said that the matter can be proven with a hair sample. If the substance is found much less than in the athlete’s male hair sample, then the explanation may be correct.
Mondernad recalled the doping case four years ago. Then the Canadian rower Laurence Vincent Lapointe was caught doping when a very small amount of the SARM compound called ligandrol was found in his sample.
Lapointe claimed that the substance ended up in her system through her then-boyfriend’s bodily fluids. Vincent Lapointe was eventually able to prove that this had happened, and his four-year ban was overturned. At the time, the athlete and her lawyer examined the hair of both, which revealed that the substance had probably ended up in the paddler’s body through her boyfriend at the time.
Thibus won silver at the Tokyo Olympics and has won several World Cup medals. Imboden is a former fencer who won two Olympic medals and four World Cup medals in his career.
