The oldest triplets of West Flanders celebrated
Birth village Kruiseke was on stilts at the time of birth. No one had seen the miracle coming, certainly not father Antoon. When he received the news at work that his wife had given birth to triplets, he first thought of an April Fool’s joke. Since that day, sister and brothers are three hands on one stomach. The triplets were the news of the region at the time. Father and mother faced the challenge of raising eleven children.
The three are not copies of each other. Yet there are many surprising anecdotes that testify to a special relationship. The triplets were honored at 10 am at the town hall of Wervik, which was the start of a holiday completely devoted to the birthday.
