The old characteristic landscape of Koekange and Koekangerveld is being restored to its former glory

Over the years, the landscape has increasingly disappeared, because people started using the land differently. Not only as a farm anymore, but also as a place to live. “We therefore want to bring back the landscape that traditionally made Koekange and Koekangerveld so characteristic. And it is of course beautiful for the view and good for biodiversity,” Meijberg continues.

A great effort by the nature organizations, but they do need help from the people in Koekange who want to make changes on their own land. They have been found. Trudy Dammers, who lives along the Weerwilleweg, is participating in the project.

Dozens of rowan trees have been planted in the field behind her house. Dammers didn’t have to think twice about participating. “I have seen old photos of the area, and then you see how much greenery has already disappeared. If you can contribute to nature recovery in this way, that is of course great.”
