The Fyre Festival went down in history thanks to its gigantic chaos.
In 2017, the Bahamas hosted a festival that went completely wrong. The group even sent the main promoter of the event to prison for fraud and embezzlement.
The unfortunate twists and turns of the Fyre Festival were even made into a popular Netflix documentary that showcases the luxury festival’s web of fraud, as well as guests’ horror moments in the Bahamas.
Now the main promoter to be released from prison Billy McFarland has announced on Twitter that the event will come again. So far, it is not known when and where the festivals will be held.
– Tell me why you should be invited, he continues.
In 2017, the festival was marketed especially with its exclusivity. For example, VIP packages costing more than 10,000 euros were available, and access to the festival area cost up to more than a thousand euros.

When the festival guests arrived in the Bahamas, they were immediately disappointed at the handshake when the event, which was marketed as wonderful, turned out to be a scam. On the opening day of the festival, construction work was in progress in the area, there were no promised restaurants or VIP services and the whole area was completely unsuitable for organizing festivals. Also, the promised artists never showed up.
In the trial, Billy McFarland admitted that he raised about $26 million from investors for his companies. The funds were supposed to be used for the production of the festival and the development of the festival application, but the promoter embezzled hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The people who worked there and the restaurant owners suffered a loss from the event. They were not paid the agreed fees.
However, in February 2023, McFarland has promised that he intends to pay all the debts of more than 26 million to his victims within the next five months.
