Actress Bonnie Aarons, who plays the demonic nun Valak in the horror series The Conjuring and the spin-off series The Nun, studio Warner Bros. to court. She thinks that the studio is not honest about the income that comes in from the merchandise based on the film series and especially her character, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Aarons played Valak four times so far. In the movies Annabelle and The Conjuring 2 she played a supporting role. But in The Nun and the sequel, which will be released later this year, she played the lead role. The first film from 2018 not only grossed almost $ 400 million, but also led to a large stream of popular merchandise. For example, there are dolls, posters, T-shirts and jewelry for sale around Valak.
The actress wants to share in the profit that this merchandise has generated. She states that Warner and producer New Line Cinemas have not disclosed to her about this income. Aarons got for her role in the first Nun $71,500. In addition, her contract stated that she would receive an additional $175,000 if the film did well, plus a share of the merchandise profits.
That is why the actress is now going to court and suing Warner and New Line for breach of contract. The studio and producer have not yet commented on the news.
