The municipalities of Emmen and Assen also stand out when it comes to the increase and decrease of polling stations. Compared to the 2017 election year, the number of polling stations in these municipalities has been reduced. Emmen recorded a negative fourteen, while in Assen it was ten agencies less.
In the other Drenthe municipalities, at least one polling station will be added compared to 2017.
The analysis also looked at how accessible the polling stations are for people with physical disabilities. Nine Drenthe municipalities achieved a 100% score in this area. Only in Meppel and De Wolden have one or more agencies been disapproved for this.
Nationally, the largest ‘polling station density’ can be found on the Wadden islands of Ameland and Schiermonnikoog and the Frisian-Drentse border municipality of Ooststellingwerf. In the Brabant municipalities of Waalre and Eindhoven, people are the most deprived. There are fewer than three polling stations per 10,000 inhabitants.
In absolute numbers, the large Dutch municipalities of Amsterdam (442), Rotterdam (378), The Hague (277) and Utrecht (217) have the most polling stations. All four also recorded a plus in polling stations compared to 2017.
