The number of corona patients in hospitals rises to more than 500

For the first time since the beginning of April, almost seven months ago, more than five hundred corona patients are in hospitals.

Over the weekend, 74 more people were admitted than left the hospital. As a result, the total occupancy increased to 508 people who tested positive on Monday.

The number of people admitted with corona has risen rapidly in recent weeks. In the space of a week and a half, more than two hundred corona patients were added. In the past seven working days, an average of around 97 people per day have ended up in hospital with corona complaints. At the beginning of October, the average influx was around fifty people per day.

Complaints fairly mild

Almost all people who tested positive are in the nursing wards. This means that their complaints are fairly mild.

Compared to previous corona waves, the situation is now relatively calm. In March this year, hospitals treated more than nine hundred corona patients. At the end of 2021, around 2,500 people were in hospitals due to their corona complaints.

Corona wave was already expected

It was already expected that a new wave of corona could occur this autumn: such viruses circulate more often in the autumn. That is why people aged 60 and over have been able to get a new booster shot since the beginning of October. Other people with vulnerable health are also eligible for the shot.
