The 15th edition of the Buenos Aires International Jazz Festival It will take place from November 23 to 27 at different venues in the city of Buenos Aires. For five days, lovers of the genre, and those who are approaching it for the first time, will be able to enjoy international concerts, tributes, workshops and talks.
In this new edition, the festival once again receives various international musicians. The event will be attended by Anthony Hart (USA), Sebastian Jordan Quintet (Chili), Giulia Valle (Spain), simona premazzi (Italy), Nik Bartsch (Swiss), the slowfox band (Germany / Argentina), Gina Savino (Colombia) and Moritz Weiss Klezmer Trio (Austria).
“BA Jazz is a proposal that grows year after year and is strengthened to make the City vibrate. In this edition, we will have the opportunity to enjoy great artists and recognize them with special tributes and also, so that jazz is a genre in continuous growth , there will be workshops, talks and masterclasses”, declared Enrique AvogadroMinister of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires.
The national programming will have more than 20 groups, arising from the call launched in July. The selection was carried out by the jury, made up of Romina Fuchs, Cirilo Fernandez and Pablo ledesma, seeking to give priority to the diversity of proposals and styles that converge on the local scene.
The opening will be on Wednesday, November 23, with two simultaneous concerts at 8:00 p.m. In The Art Plant will be presented Sebastian Jordan Quinteta Chilean hard-bop group with a long history led by the prominent trumpeter, along with Augustine Moya (sax), sebastian castro (piano), Rodrigo Espinoza (double bass) and carlos cortes (drums). At the same time, in Centennial ParkFor lovers of funk and soul, the Argentine group will give an open-air concert Avocado and The Mood.

Usina del Arte will also host international concerts. On Thursday 24 at 8:00 p.m., the American saxophonist Anthony Hart will direct and be part of a concert of the Big Band of the Manuel de Falla Conservatory. The next day, at 8:30 p.m., the Spanish double bassist will be Giula Vallawhich will be presented with Ernest Jodos on piano and Sergio Verdinelli in battery.
On the weekend there will also be concerts for the public. On Saturday 26, 7:30 p.m., the Swiss pianist Nik Bartsch will offer a solo piano concert and later, at 8:30 p.m., the German-Argentine group will be slowfox. On Sunday 27, at 6:00 p.m., the Austrian group will play Moritz Weiss Klezmer Trio. The closing concert, that same day, will be given by the Italian pianist simona premazzi presenting “Andrew!!”tribute to the composer Andrew Hill.

In the Cultural San Martin there will be four concerts with the label Jazzology: Perata-Penovi Pulent Four, Guadalupe Raventos Quintet, Marengo-Falcón-Varela Trio and Julieta Kitman Group. at headquarters Center Cultural May 25, will have a gala night on Saturday 26 with the Regional Big Bandformed by artists from different towns in the Province of Buenos Aires. In this edition, tributes will be made to the deceased musicians Alfredo Remus and Enrique Norris, both in the Usina del Arte. On Thursday 24, at 7:00 p.m., there will be a tribute to double bass player Alfredo Remus. During his vast career he recorded with local jazz celebrities such as Enrique “Mono” Villegas and the Cat Barbieri. On Sunday 27, at 7:30 p.m., starting the closing concert, there will be “Enrique Norris Universe”homage to this great trumpeter who influenced many young Argentine jazz musicians.
As a complementary part of the programming, two functions of the documentary cycle will be presented “Jazz from Here”performed by the organization of jazz musicians AMUJ.
