Boston Bruins’ Patrice Bergeron’s father With Gerard Cleary has been diagnosed with cancer, reports ESPN, among others Shukri Wrights on his Twitter account.
The Bruins star has been sidelined for the playoffs so far, but played in the last game of the regular season against the Montreal Canadiens.
Bergeron’s actions were greatly admired, because the playoffs were close, and star players should not risk their health for nothing.
The fear came true, as Bergeron only played a good five minutes against the Canadiens. He had to leave the match due to an upper body injury.
However, it has now emerged that Bergeron wanted to play because of his father’s cancer. Despite the injury, Bergeron even wanted to return to the ice, but Sportskeeda website according to this was denied.
“Now I know and fully understand his decision to play in front of his family and possibly his father for the last time in Montreal,” Wrights wrote.
– My thoughts and prayers are with Patrice Bergeron’s father, who is fighting cancer.
Bergeron has been sidelined for two playoff games against the Florida Panthers. He has been reported to have been sidelined due to injury and illness.
The playoff series between the Bruins and the Panthers is tied at 1-1 in match wins.
