The next Juventus player faces a ban: investigations against Fagioli

Player informed authority himself

The Turin public prosecutor’s office is investigating Juventus player Nicolò Fagioli for online betting on unauthorized websites. The 22-year-old midfielder informed the Italian Football Association (FIGC), which is also investigating the matter, about the case on August 30, Armando Simbari, the player’s lawyer, told the Italian news agency “LaPresse”. If Fagioli is found guilty, he will reportedly face a fine and a ban of several years.

Fagioli, who appeared in six of eight Serie A games this season and increased his market value to 35 million euros with good performances last year, “is cooperating with both the judicial and sports authorities with the greatest possible transparency” said Simbari. “He actually wants to contribute to the investigation.” The 22-year-old does not play a relevant role in the investigation, the AP news agency reported.

The investigations against Fagioli, who came from his own youth, are not the only reason why the Italian record champions are currently struggling with negative headlines: midfielder Paul Pogba (30) is temporarily banned for doping after a positive B test and could be out for up to four years be pulled out of traffic. A few days ago, Juventus also announced a loss of 123.7 million euros for the past season.
