SG Flensburg-Handewitt remains a power at home in the handball Bundesliga. On Wednesday evening, the Schleswig-Holsteiners won 34:24 (16:14) against SC DHfK Leipzig and celebrated their fourth victory in the fourth home game of the season.

The Flensburg team, who thus gave the right answer to the away defeat in Stuttgart, only seemed nervous and without self-confidence in the first half, but the North Germans turned up the heat in the second half. The best SG thrower was Simon Pytlick with seven goals in front of 5,943 spectators. Thanks to their success, the Flensburg team climbed to fourth place in the table – but with 10:6 points they are still well behind leaders Füchse Berlin (16:0) and second place MT Melsungen (14:2).

Things will continue for the North Germans in just four days – in the league they will host HSG Balingen-Weilstetten on Sunday (4.30 p.m.). The next home game is two days later: the Kadetten Schaffhausen will be playing at the start of the European League on Tuesday (8.45 p.m.) on the fjord.

SG initially finds it difficult…

The spectators saw a disjointed start with four time penalties within the first ten minutes – evenly distributed between both teams. Leipzig used a double majority to take a 3-1 lead (4th), Flensburg turned the score around (6:5/11th) and Johan Hansen gave the home team a two-goal lead for the first time (10:8/17th). .).

Although SG keeper Kevin Möller made a few saves, coach Nicolej Krickau’s team was unable to capitalize on them. Attacks were finished sloppily, and after the second time penalty for Johannes Golla, the hosts conceded the equalizer again (11:11/21st). Two lapses in Leiz’s attack gave Flensburg an unexpected 16:14 lead shortly before the half-time siren.

… but then increases significantly

Just under six minutes had been played after the restart, Teitur Einarsson had extended the lead to six goals (22:16/36.). The Flensburg offensive machine was now running and the attacks were consistently completed (27:20/43.).

The SG couldn’t let its lead be taken away. With a 5-0 run, the home team finally dismantled their guests, turning a 28:22 into a 33:22 (58th minute). The rest was jubilation.
