The number of stars on Hyvinkää’s Walk of Fame star track is increasing. This year, two long-time filmmakers will get their stars sober: film director Pirjo Honkasalo and film director Kari Sohlberg. The stars will be revealed on Thursday, August 24.

This is the first time a film director gets a Red Carpet star.

Art academic Pirjo Honkasalo has a career spanning almost six decades as a film director and cinematographer. Honkasalo was Finland’s first feature film (Cloud castle1970) photographed by a woman.

The Red Carpet Jury chose cinematographer Kari Sohlberg as this year’s second star recipient. The choice is justified, among other things, by the fact that Sohlberg has left a lasting visual mark on Finnish film history and culture. His career includes more than 60 theatrically released films.
