Residents of Central Groningen believe that Adriaan Hoogendoorn’s successor as mayor should above all be approachable and connecting.
Adriaan Hoogendoorn announced in September that he would step down as mayor of Central Groningen in July 2024. To draw up a profile for the new mayor, the city council called on the help of residents, entrepreneurs, social organizations and village and neighborhood associations.
Not only could they express their preferences and wishes during a meeting in Froombosch, they could also complete a digital questionnaire. The most important results from the questionnaire are shown on a separate page in the profile sketch.
The questionnaire was completed by 440 residents of Central Groningen. They appear to attach particular importance to the new mayor being approachable and connecting. Furthermore, residents find it important that the mayor is committed to a safe municipality.
Special public council meeting
The municipal council will discuss the profile sketch on Thursday, November 23 in a special public council meeting with King’s Commissioner René Paas and formally adopt it. The procedure for recruiting a new mayor will then start. The goal is for the mayor to be installed in July 2024.
