the new label to promote innovative agri-agro companies

AgriTeh is in the spotlight at the 2022 agricultural show. This year, we will not only be focusing on local products and the exhibition of farm animals. This edition is an opportunity for members of the government to highlight innovations in the field of agri-agro. the Agri20 label was launched on this occasion, to promote the emergence of champions in this sector.

A new label dedicated to the agricultural and food transition with Agri20

Louis Fleuret, deputy director of La French Tech and present at the launch of Agri20estimate that “this new label should make it possible to bring to the forefront companies that are already advanced, at national and international level”. This ranking dedicated to actors in agriculture and agrifood is the equivalent of Next40/120. In the latest edition of this ranking, which honors innovative French companies, only two belong to the field of agri-agro: Ynsect and Agriconomie.

This explains the launch of this new label. With Agri20, Julien Denormandie, Minister of Agriculture and Food in France, and Cédric O, Secretary of State for Digital Affairs, want support more companies in the sector. In 2022, most startups in the Next40 ranking are focused on other industries: healthcare, human resources, marketing or digital transformation. Agri20 will therefore be dedicated exclusively to innovations in the sector agriculture and agri-food.

Objective: accelerate the development of agricultural innovation

To join the Agri20, applicants must “already have a stable business model as well as established teams and multiple balance sheets”. The idea is clear: bring out 20 French champions. Applications have been open since February 28 and the jury will select 20 profiles in May. Several young shoots have already registered to try to be among the 20 winners. Like the Next40/120, this list will become an annual event.

This new initiative is a continuation of the actions launched by the government in the agricultural sector. Indeed, on August 30, 2021 the French AgriTech was officially createdin the objective “to accelerate the development of agricultural innovation with an envelope of 200 million euros”. According to Paolin Pascot, the founder of Agronomy, “we must respond to five challenges of tomorrow: feed better, have greener and more local energy, have access for all to fresh water, face the climatic reality and finally, support farmers”. Beyond the label, Agri20 promises a comprehensive support program.
