The new FAI heart places: jewels to be rediscovered

Stand for the political elections abstention has now reached disturbing dimensions, the FAI which boasts 1,500,638 citizens who wanted to vote the national census of Places of the Heart. Proof, if it were still needed, of the ever-increasing interest that Italians have for the protection of the immense cultural and landscape heritage that is hidden even in the most unthinkable places in the country.

But what are the beauties that will be involved by FAI revaluation projects to shine again for the public?

From Alessandria to Molise, hidden jewels

And then she earned third place there Church of San Giacomo della Vittoria in Alessandriain Piedmont, a building of rare beauty that houses precious artistic masterpieces, built starting from the end of the 14th century

Second place goes to Museum of the Mysteries of Campobasso which thanks to the FAI will finally be able to bring to light the “wits” conceived by Paolo Saverio di Zinno back in the 18th century. Today it is one of the most visited museums in Molise.

The first place is conquered by Lecce

The first place conquers it the Church of San Pietro dei Samari, immersed in the suggestive nature of the Isola di Sant’Andrea Park and the Punta Pizzo coast, in the province of Lecce, a short distance from Gallipoli.

But the ranking boasts just as many little jewels to (re)discover including Via Vandellione of the first carriage roads that runs between Emilia Romagna and Tuscany.

There Basilica of the Fieschis of Cogorno in the province of Genoa, the medieval village of Cremolino in the Upper Monferrato, and again Villa Mirabellino in Monza.

The importance of the FAI project

The FAI Places of the Heart initiative was born in 2003 with the aim of going to discover and re-enhance some of the most fascinating cultural and landscape heritages of Italy that have long since been forgotten.

From then to today there are 138 places located in 19 Italian regions reviving their former glory.

Together with FAI also for Camellia Day

However, another interesting event will enliven the FAI assets in the month of April. Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd, in fact, Villa Della Porta Bozzolo in Casalzuigno in the province of Varese will host the Camellia day.

During the event, visitors will be able to admire over 150 varieties from floriculture on Lake Maggiore and in the provinces of Verbania and Varese.

They will find a large selection of plants to buy and they will be able to cast their vote to select the flower with the most beautiful shape at the end of the daywhose photo can be shared on social networks in a horticultural contest.

Herbarium for those who love medicinal plants

Medicinal plants and their innumerable uses, between tradition and science, will instead be the protagonists of the Liberation bridge. From Saturday 22 to Tuesday 25 April the Torba Monastery in Gornate Olona (VA) will host Herbarium.

Conferences and in-depth meetings, guided tours and ethnobotanical walks, workshops for adults and children will be scheduled.

In the meantime, the exhibitors will offer plants from seeds and cuttings for sale, cosmetic products and essential oils, herbal teas, infusions and liqueurs.
