Construction of the new primary school in the Emmer district of Delftlanden will start this year. The complex will house both the local and Christian primary school Het Talent and two preschools. A gymnasium will also be added to the location. Construction is expected to be completed in 2025.
The schools are currently still in an emergency building. Because the development of the neighborhood lagged behind, the arrival of a new school building also stagnated. The construction of the Delftlanden started in 2005, but the various crises soon put the brakes on it. In the first fifteen years, houses were added only sparingly. Around 2019, things came to a turning point and houses sprang up like mushrooms. There is now a piece of land available that can accommodate approximately 1,000 homes.
With the arrival of more homes, the number of children has also increased. This trend, in combination with the growth spurt of the neighborhood, means that the switch can now definitely be turned. The costs for the new school building amount to 7.2 million euros. The construction of the gymnasium has been estimated at 2.3 million euros. This property has yet to be put out to tender. The whole will be located west of the current school building.
