The new actor for The Man of Steel has been cast. A 29-year-old will step into Henry Cavill’s shoes in the next Superman movie David Corenswet. To come Superman: Legacy -movie director James Gunn confirmed the news on Twitter. The topic was reported by, among others, People.

Corenswet has previously acted in series, among other things House of Cards and Hollywood.

Henry Cavill, who played Clark Kent and the Man of Steel in four previous Superman films, announced on social media in December that he will no longer be seen in the role. He said that he had previously been promised to continue in the role, but the filmmakers ended up with another solution. Cavill said he understands the news may be disappointing for fans.

– We can mourn a bit, but we have to remember that the Man of Steel still exists, Cavill wrote on Instagram.

Cavill began portraying the character in DC films in 2013.

Director James Gunn justified the casting by saying that the next film will focus on an earlier stage in the character’s life, so a new actor is needed.
