Sittard – Despite the war on the edge of Europe, Carnival in the Netherlands promises to be a big party. However, there are different local interpretations of the costume party. While some towns and villages prepare for long parades, in other parts of the south, major festivities are not staged. “It can get quite busy at the parades,” predicts Security Council chairman Hubert Bruls.
