Claudia de Breij is quite pissed off about the PVV’s election victory. According to the BNNVARA star, the Netherlands is now ‘a country with an extreme right-wing majority’.
It is no secret that people in BNNVARA circles are terribly upset about the election results. There was even a kind of mourning meeting in the broadcasting canteen last week, where employees and stars could cry together about the profits for right-wing parties. It seems that Claudia de Breij also ate a few slices of cake there.
Extreme right country
In her latest VARAgids column, Claudia de Breij goes all out on the PVV’s election victory. “Now, as I type this, the morning after the elections, the Netherlands appears to be a country with an extreme right-wing majority. “We should have listened to the people better,” Yesilgöz whines. “That voter is always right,” Omtzigt slurs.”
That Pieter Omtzigt cannot be trusted either, the comedian seems to think. “Pieter Omtzigt, who we thought was so clean on the bone, now I suddenly see it.”
Cowardly Omtzigt
What does Claudia suddenly see? “That whole cowardly line that he gave when he was asked whether he was excluding the PVV was a matter of form. It was about the fact that it was ‘not constitutional’ to want to ban the Koran and exclude people, not about the fact that it was morally reprehensible.”
He never said anything about that, Claudia complains. “About what it means for people to hear that you’re not allowed to be here.”
‘Say something!’
And Dilan Yesilgöz? She’s getting tired of that. “Instead of ‘listening better’, she should have started saying something at all, instead of gratuitous one-liners about ‘I stand with you’ and ‘we are going to look ahead’ and ‘offer solutions instead of watery compromises!’
The Netherlands was a guiding country for many years, according to Claudia. And now? “A country of hits.”
