Not a single bank in Georgia serves the Russian payment system Mir. This was reported in the National Bank of the country, transmits Primetime.ge. This is how the National Bank of Georgia commented on media reports about the plans of one of the shopping centers in Batumi to accept Mir cards for payment.

“If a Georgian organization serves a payment company that does not have registration, it violates the law of Georgia “On the payment system and payment services.” This will qualify as illegal commercial activity,” the bank stressed.

The National Bank warned that if such cases are identified, information about the violators will be sent to the investigative services.

Earlier, the Georgian airline Georgian Airways added the ability to pay for air tickets with a Mir card. In this regard, at the office of the airline passed protest. Then the National Bank of Georgia announced that no banks or processing systems of the country cooperate with the Russian payment system.
