“The nation has woken up to a very special day”

Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark becomes King of Denmark.

Denmark will have a new ruler on Sunday. Denmark has been preparing for the big day for a few weeks now.

Queen Margaret announced in her New Year’s speech that she would abdicate on January 14. His son, Crown Prince Frederik, will take over. Frederik will be proclaimed king on Sunday afternoon at three Finnish time. Frederik’s wife Mary becomes Queen of Denmark.

Hovi set the mood for the historic day on his Instagram account. On Sunday morning, Hovi published a video with clips from the streets of Denmark. The video shows how Danish flags fly as the sun rises in Copenhagen.

– Good morning! The nation has woken up to a very special day, the caption says.

On Saturday, Hovi published a series of photos that showed more details about the decorations in Copenhagen. The photo series included pictures of Danish flags on the streets and name-brand pastries, among other things.

In the Danish media, citizens are advised to prepare for large-scale traffic chaos in the afternoon. Several streets are closed due to the change of power. People are expected to gather in the streets to follow the procession of the new ruler.

There is no big coronation in Denmark like in Great Britain last year. Frederik will be proclaimed king on the balcony of Christiansborg Palace at three in the afternoon Finnish time.
