The women’s singles semi-final matches at the US Open have been completed. In the first semi-final match, 6th seeded US Coco Gauff and 10th seeded Czech Karolina Muchova faced off. Defeating her opponent 2-0 with sets of 6-4 and 7-5, Gauff became the first name to make it to the semi-finals. After this result, 19-year-old Gauff advanced to the 2nd Grand Slam final of her career. The US racquet had previously competed in the French Open (Roland Garros) final in 2022, but could not lift the trophy after losing to Iga Swiatek.
SABALENKA WINS IN A BREATHTAKING MATCH
In the last semi-final match of the day, 17th seeded US Madison Keys and 2nd seeded Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka competed for the final at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Sabalenka, who lost the first set 6-0, won the 2nd and 3rd sets as a result of a tie-break with 7-6 scores and defeated her opponent 2-1 after 2 hours and 32 minutes and made her mark in the final.
Following this result, the Belarusian racket advanced to the Grand Slam final for the second time in his career. The 25-year-old racquet, who played her first Grand Slam final at the Australian Open this year, won the first Grand Slam title of her career by defeating Kazakh tennis player Elena Rybakina 2-1 with sets of 4-6, 6-3 and 6-4.
